Baby Wednesday - 24 1/2 weeks

Figured I was due for a Baby Wednesday post.

I have been feeling pretty good. Clothes are definately fitting more snugly, but I have yet to purchase a single shred of maternitywear. It's a pride thing :p Anyways, I have been more tired and moving around a lot is a little more difficult but overall the whole thing is just wonderful. He is moving around all the time now, especially first thing in the morning and at night. So fun!

here's what I read for this week on my pregnancy site: Your baby weighs about 1.2 pounds and is about 8.4 inches from crown to rump. His or her lungs have started secreting surfactant, the substance that keeps the moist, interior surface of the lungs from sticking together; and he or she is practicing breathing. Your baby's eyes are also watching for light and its ears are listening to your heart beat and your stomach growl.

Weekend

This weekend was pretty action packed for us. First off, we watched our neices and nephew while their parents were out of town. They wore us out but they were alot of fun!

Ryan taking them for a ride in his "big truck"

Doesn't Ry look cute?! (both of them :)

Next we met up with Papa and Nana at the mall for lunch and a carousel ride

We wore Trevor out
After naps, the party continued as we took Trevor and Rylee to Peter Piper Pizza

Trevor climbed up the jungle gym thing but was afraid to get down! What a sad face!

The next morning was Sunday. Chocolate milk at Starbucks, then off to church
On Monday we went over to the Daukas house for some fun fellowship and food.

Cynthia and Stephanie
Carrie and Bo

Whew! I need a nap.

Baby Clothes!

One of the ways (actually, the only way) I have been preparing for Owen is... buying him clothes. Ryan calls it "shopping". I call it "bonding."

Since there really isn't a point in buying anything until my baby showers, I have been stocking up on my favorite little boy styles. So far I have come across some pretty cute stuff. Exhibit A:

This past weekend my dad took me shopping to buy some things for the baby. Thanks dad!!! Got some cute stuff:
(notice the matching beanie!!?)

And I have made a few purchases of my own:

Anniversary

Ryan and I celebrated our 2 year anniversary yesterday. It was a great time of reflection..and gifts! :) He got me flowers. (I actually received them last week so they're looking a little sad by now). He also surprised me with some onesies I mentioned I loved.... what a sweetie! And aren't these onesies cute!? Brown for my little man! This striped one is my fave.
Last night we went to this interesting hole in the wall Italian restaurant that was pretty good. Then it was off to the mall so Ryan could spend his present from me - a Buckle giftcard. He found some great jeans. Today he had the day off so I made us a belated anniversary breakfast!

Getting all gussied up

There are a few things I have to say about this guy. First of all, the last 2 years, even though riddled with trials and painful circumstances, have been the best 2 years of my life. Life with Ryan is so fun, so joyful, so contented. Whether it's scrambling to get to caregroup, getting dinner on a date night, running to the grocery store together, or a lazy Sunday afternoon, I am so happy with him and he truly is my best friend. We have grown much as a couple and as individuals during these few years, and I am so grateful God gifted me with him. Babe, you're the love of my life and I'm crazy about you - more and more so every day!!! Love you!

Itch

All afternoon my stomach has been itching, itching. I think is this some weird pregnancy symptom? Check my baby book, What to Expect When You're Expecing... unhelpful... then i realize... ice cream cone dust down my shirt.

Ah. Lovely.

P.S. Ice cream, up until now, has been a pregnancy aversion. Anyone who knows me knows this is quite shocking. Well, not anymore. Ice cream is back in my life. With a vengence.

Moms 2 Moms

This morning I was able to go to a church meeting for women with young children called Moms 2 Moms. It was soo good. Even though I'm not an "active" parent yet, it's such a blessing to be around godly women who are and to be able to glean from their wisdom. One mom was sharing a particular struggle with her 2 year old, and the rest of the women gave wonderful input.... I just am so grateful that I can be apart of this teaching before Ryan and I are even in the season.... we can talk and prepare, so when that time comes we can have a game plan! I love my church.

Ambulance

I had never paid attention to ambulances before, but after my mom had the heart attack, i feel like they are haunting me. Every day I hear several going from place to place with their sirens on. Each time I get a sick feeling in my stomach as memories uninvitingly flood my mind. As I write this there are about 3 ambulances, a fire truck, and.................I counted about 4 police cars pulling into my neighborhood. The sounds are almost too much. But we have a gracious heavenly Father who promises to give grace and strength in times of struggle. I pray that God would give me peace and comfort in my times of painful memories. Times like these I see how God is faithful to tangibly provide peace to my heart. Don't know what I would do without it.... probably throw something. Or buy earplugs.

Kick!

Early this morning I was laying in bed, minding my own business, half asleep, with my hand on my belly (as is my habit lately). Then out of nowhere, my hand felt a kick!! I waited a few more seconds, and there it was again!!! It was the first time I have been able to feel it outside of my stomach. Which means, Ryan should hopefully be able to feel him soon. How exciting! It melted my heart and made my day! Pregnancy is so special! My body is changing and doing weird things sometimes, but I am so grateful for this little guy.
