28 weeks

Wanted to update on my 28 week doctor's appointment yesterday. It went very well. I was a little nervous because we had a lot to do at this appointment. The glucose test, a Rhogam injection, and a sonogram. All went well! For starters, the "gross sugary" glucose drink was actually pretty good and tasted like Koolaid. No problems there :). For those of you who know me well, I have a major (clinical) sweet tooth. Next, the sonogram. We got to see baby Owen - so cute! He is head down. We actually couldn't get a very good shot of his face cause his head is snuggled deep into my pelvic bone. No wonder I've had pressure. Sometimes I can't even sit straight up, I have to sit at an angle! That expains it. Anyways, he and my uterus are measuring a week ahead - 30 weeks! The technician suggested he could have had a growth spurt or something, so it doesn't change my due date. Also, the baby is measuring 3 lbs and that puts him in the 70th percentile for weight (I can't believe my baby has a percentile! How exciting!). She also said that babies gain about 5 lbs after week 30, so there's a good chance we'll have an 8 lb baby. Ryan and I were both about 8 lbs so that sounds about right. The Rhogam shot was put off until my next visit and I should get a call with my glucose blood test here in the next few days.

We didn't get very many good sonogram pics cause the baby was wedged pretty deep down there. He's been moving and kicking alot, but not like crazy. I get the feeling he's kind of a laid back baby. Oh, and I've been experiencing some Braxton Hicks too. It is just so surreal to be coming up so close to the baby coming. The doctor even went through signs of preterm labor with me! Insane. I am so eager to meet our baby and am amazed at how time has flown by so far. And from now 'til 36 weeks, I see the doctor every 2 weeks, then it goes to every week until the baby comes. He's been moving and kicking alot, but not like crazy. I get the feeling he's kind of a laid back baby.

As far as an update on me, I'm feeling great. I really really enjoy pregnancy. Ryan always says if all of our pregnancies are as easy and enjoyable as this one, we're gonna have a lot of kids!

I do get tired very easily, but as long as I get my afternoon nap, I'm just fine. Don't have any stretch marks on my tummy yet, maybe I'll get away without any! (Hey, no comments, a girl can dream, can't she?) As for cravings, lately it's been BAGELS and STRAWBERRIES. Not together. I have back pain if I sit wrong or stand too long, but it feels better as soon as I lay down for awhile. I feel the nesting coming on strong...

We still have alot to do in the nursery to prepare for baby. Desk and computer chair to get rid of, books to find a place for, filing cabinet to hide in the closet. Then we can paint, assemble the crib and go from there. We ended up finding the bedding we originally wanted, yay! It's all coming together.

Sorry for the novel. Keep you all updated!

Updates

Better late than never, right?

Lots of changes since my last post! For one, my dear friend Courtney got engaged...

Arriving

Checking out the ring

Happy, happy couple :)

BFFs

Congratulations Courtney & Josh! I am so excited for you guys. Courtney, thanks for letting me be a part of this season with you. It's a privilage to be your friend!

THEN...

My sweet husband threw me a SURPRISE PARTY for my birthday, and boy, was I surprised!!! I thought we were just going out to a movie with Dad and the Jones', but when I showed up at the house, all my friends and family were there! It took probably a good half hour to sink in and get over the shock. What fun we had that night! Everything was decorated in browns and golds (my favorite colors), there were yummy foods, and great company! After hanging out a while we got together a game of charades, boys vs girls. Girls won!

Here's the video of me walking into my surprise party!

What a fun birthday!!!!

AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST....

Owen :)

He's in there!

The pregnancy has been going very well. The baby is moving and kicking all the time now. I've been having fun watching the reaction of friends and family who get to feel him move. So special!

The picture above Tara took of me about a month ago. I framed it and gave to Ryan on Father's Day :)

Anyways, I'm at about 28 weeks now! Time has flown by. Lately I've been just itching to prepare for the baby in some way. Just buying him clothes was getting expensive :) I found out that Babies R Us discontinued the crib bedding...grrr. I called down there, and for the first time in my life, gave them a piece of my mind... which really didn't do any good because they said it's the manufacturer that discontinued it, not them. Anyways, I did an extensive internet search and found it on another website. Ryan bought it for us! However, this morning we received an email saying "this item is on backorder but will be shipped as soon as possible". Who knows, we may not get it at all :(

I have another big appointment next week. We have a growth ultrasound, the blood/glucose test, and a rhogan (sp?) shot. Yikes. Talk about bittersweet. However, it will be so great to see Owen on the screen, especially since I've been feeling him so much and wondering how he's moving, where he's positioned, and what part of him keeps hitting my bladder, haha.

I also bought my very first maternity items this week. First, Ryan bought me the Bella Band (in black lace!). I can now wear some jeans and skirts I couldn't before, yay! It is super comfortable and does the trick. I also went to the maternity store for the first time and walked out with this:

which I am tempted to wear everyday because it's so comfy. Got one in a really dark wash too :)

Well, those are the general updates. Here's the latest belly pic of me taken last night (which by the way was a fabulous date night with Ry! We went to The Keg for steak and then to see the Incredible Hulk which was a FANTASTIC movie!!!)

Baby Owen, we're crazy about you already and can't wait for you to come out!

ConGRADUATIONS!

My little brother Jesse graduated from high school last Friday. He's been homeschooled most of his life, but the past year or two has been attending a community college as well. After everything our family has walked through the last few months, Jesse was still able to finish his classes. I'm so proud of you J! Good job!!

100 Days....

180 days down, 100 to go!
